Update: Teen Pregnancy Shelter

It seems like a lifetime ago when I began the journey to open a home for pregnant teens. The Renewed Hope Center has had a slow start but things are looking up!

So far, I have gotten my Board of Directors together, other than a treasurer. I have had so many people already volunteer different services, from nurses to teachers, from surrogate grandmas to fundraisers. It has been a complete whirlwind!

I have applied for my Business license, Incorporation, and Non-profit status. I never realized there was so much paperwork or so much to learn along the way. I have been studying laws, rules, every aspect of business, as well as psychology. I have looked at several facilities, but none of these have been right for this program. I have sent several grant requests to get the program up and going. I recently sent out 17 proposals for donations of building supplies, land, and contractors. I have a construction company that has already volunteered a crew to build whatever we needed. I have a volunteer to draw up blue prints as well. It is exhausting but I will keep pushing through until The Renewed Hope Center is open and running for everyone.

What is needed right now is donations of baby items, maternity clothes, sheets, blankets, and money in order to open my home to anyone who needs the help now. My home will be used until a bigger facility can be afforded.

The only worry I have right now is that I will not be able to help enough.

This foundation of the teen pregnancy is a double edge weapon, where you can end up encouraging the teen pregnancy. Never the less you can see a considerable drop in the abortions. Wish you can find donors for the items you need.

Karen, I am extremely interested in speaking with you. I too would like to help teen parents. Could you please contact me as soon as possible?

I have moved to the above website. I also wanted to say that I do NOT want to encourage teen pregnancy, I will have programs pertaining to abstinence and preventing pregnancy. What I want to do is help those that do get pregnant become better mothers, more productive citizens, get off welfare and face all the “craziness” that your life has to deal with being a young mother and young adult. I do not encourage, I’m just here to help those that need it.
