The Joy Of Pencils – MFFO in Kenya

We take so much for granted.

A recorded Skype conversation with my husband, Jeff Turner. I’m currently in Kenya with Juli, Ashley  and Tonja. The first thing we did when we got off of the plane was visit several Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.  In this audio, Jeff asks me about the reactions of the children to receiving something we take for granted… pencils.

Wow, I thought the pictures said it all until I heard your phone conversation. I don’t think any one of us here can truly understand how little it takes to make a difference to children that have absolutely nothing. Pencils and underwear. We will have to get you even more for the next visit. I’m so glad you have those talented women with you! We love you Headmutha!

On Rocky’s Twitter she said she had seen so much to work on and so many who need help. Just keep on making a little difference, one child at a time. You can never tell what difference you can make by doing just a little thing. I think the pencils above make that very clear. And not everyone can go to Kenya as Rocky, Juli, and Ashley have done–but most people can do something small that makes a difference too.
